new crested gecko pictures

aimee_s Nov 09, 2004 12:16 AM

i finally got a new computer (my last on crashed about a month ago) and i uploaded pictures of my new crested, vas-D, from my digi-cam 2 the new comp.

these pictures were taken a week after i purchased vas-D from someone from Craigslist.org. i was told that vas-D is a probable male at his juvenile age (not sure of the exact age) and that he's a flame morph... is he a flame morph ?

thanks! i like them too when i first got him, i was really excited - he's very cute. he's somewhat skiddish, so i don't handle him too much coz i dont want to scare him into making his cute little tail drop off. i did in that one picture because i had to transfer him

i'd say he's a partial pinstripe harlequin. as for the sex...difficult to tell untill it reaches about 4 or 5 months old id say. males will develop a very obvious hemipenal bulge. females have a very slight hemipenal bulge. also, the cloacal spurs (lil white spikes near the vent) tend to be more pronounced than in females.

oOoo, i was wondering if he was a harlequin, but the guy who sold him to me said that he's a flame morph. so do you think it's a mix of both?? or just a harlequin?

and in watching him climb the walls of the screen cage, it looks like it's starting to develop a small bulge and i see the white spikes. i'll try to get a picture tonight just because i'm unsure of its age - all i was told was that it was a probable male that's of juvenile age. it's my first crested, but i've had experience with leopard geckos (which were easy 4 me 2 sex), so i'm hoping that i got it right and have pinned him as a male - i know sexing is totally different, but i just wanna get sexing down right in case i end up getting another one

thank you!
