Depends... are you looking for a Western Hognose or an Eastern Hognose? If this is your first time owning one, I strongly suggest that you start with a Western. There are many for sale on the Classifieds.

I would personally recommend West Texas Reptiles. The guy that runs the place is the leading expert in the country. I would also recommend a Western Hognose. They are certainly easier to feed. My hognose is a wild caught baby, but if I get another snake it will be from him. I have seen his green phase hognoses in person and a couple of friends from college and I went to Lubbock and they bought a pair from him. They are both eating good and are beautiful snakes. I was truly amazed at how green they are in real life. My next will definately be a green or red phase from him. Make sure you read up on all their requirements before taking on the responsibility. Some of these snakes can live over 20 years. It takes quite a commitment.

i totally agree with "vt". richard evens is a very good person, and resource for quality animals. i cant tell you how many animals i have gotten from him, and im involved with getting quite a few more from him as we speak. (and i know that i will be buying from him for a long time)

there are defenately other good people who sell hogs in the classifieds section...so there is absolultely no shortage on good, and healthy animals there.

if you would like contact info for some of these people that i have personally delt with...please feel free to contact me. otherwise good luck with your hunting.

my email address is pmile69@yahoo.com

and one more thing...i would defenately recommend western/ plains hognose snakes. they are easy to care for, and very versatile as far as color, and pattern varieations go. good luck, phil wheeles
