Few questions about Bloodreds

AlteredMind99 Nov 09, 2004 12:43 PM

So here is my two main questions. First, has anyone ever done business with South Mountain Reptiles? Their corns are gorgeous but i dont know much about them and i want to make sure i get a good healthy baby from a company that is decent. Any feedback?

Second, I am looking at the bloodreds, and on South Mountain they have like 4 different kinds of bloodreds, i don't really understand the difference between them? I want to get the ones that are the most stunningly red, they are labeled simply as Bloodreds on the website.

TIA for your help!

You simply cannot go wrong dealing with Don Soderberg at SMR. Not only are his animals fantastic (particularly his "brand" of bloodred morphs), but his dedication to the concepts of customer relations, good business, and education of those seeking to care for their individual cornsnake charges is truly above reproach.

I have heard competitors say questionable things about Don, but never a customer. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

As for the different morphs carrying the name "bloodred," they are all animals that are homozygous for the pattern mutation that is exhibited in the original bloodred morph. However, there have been other genes introduced (amelanism, anerythrism, and hypo are the most common) to create new looks along with that pattern mutation. They are all exceptional, in my opinion, but if you are looking for a deep, dark red snake...Don's bloodreds are as good as they get!

He is an excellent person to deal with, very helpful and very knowledgable. His customer service is A1. He will bend over backwards to help you with any problems. If for some reason you are unhappy with your purchase, which I don't think will be a problem, he will take care of it for you. You definately don't have to worry buying from him. He has some of the nicest snakes out there. That is why so many of mine came from him, so I could bring his bloodline to my area.

Here is a pic of my 03 bloodred from Don.

A nice examle from SMR:

A not so nice example from SMR (with a ghost, also from SMR):

And Don is wonderful guy. I've so far only dealt with 3 different breeders, but Don was by far the best person of the 3 to do a deal with. EXCELLENT customer service.

If you just ask him to specially pick out one for you that he thinks will be very red as an adult he will do so, or at least try to.

although they aren't bloods. Don is great to work with, and has also provided us with lots of beautiful photos for the upcoming revised Cornsnake Manual (don't ask when - just "soon". Many of my customers have also had great things to say about him - never heard a negative remark from anyone, and that is a diffcult feat to accomplish!

>>I have a couple of snakes from Don at South Mountain.
I would recommend him to any and everyone interested in getting a quality corn snake.
Unfortunately I can't personally vouch for his bloodreds but if they are anything like the rest of his snakes, you can't go wrong.

Jimmy,

You really need to get some of those great close-ups together and send them to Kathy Love. I know she is planning an updated version of the CSM, and your close-ups are simply some of the very best I have seen....anywhere.

Keep 'em coming!

I bought 1:1 Butters and 1:1 Abbott's Okeetees. I couldn't be happier. The animals are beautiful and the customer service was unbelievable. I ordered on Wednesday and had them on Thursday! Don answered the phone and was friendly and very helpfull. I couldn't believe what a large selection he still had at the end of October! I would absolutly recommend SMR!!!

I got this 04 female blood from Don about three weeks ago. Don was great to work with. He even sent me this comparison pic so I would know how baby bloods look in comparison to adults.

First off, I can tell you that Don is class act. Top notch service, and perfect animals. I purchased a 04 Blood-red, 04 Hypo, and an adult Creamsicle.

The most amazing Blood-red's are Albino(Amelanastic) Blood-reds, but this of coarse is a combination of two recessive traits. Don has photos of Adults on his site. Take a look and decide which look you want...

So panther...that's a lavender black rat, right? It's very pretty!

I also wanted to post my opinion about Don...he is simply the most amazing breeder I've dealt with. He offers gorgeous animals and exceptional customer service. The snakes I have from him are some of the biggest prettiest snakes I have. I will definitely continue giving him my business!
