Here's a "poor man's" lineaticollis....this is E. scalaris.

Here's the real thing. These guys have to have the most voracious appetite of any Pituophis they are always hungry (which I guess is true for about any Pituophis) and to me the blotches are so un-pit like, they remind me of a carpet python or something. I do not guess I should say the scalaris are anyone's poor anything, they are an interesting Pituophis-like European snake though. --Scott

You are close. scalaris is actually considered the possible ancestor of Pituophis.

There is no evidence of this. They only superficially look alike due to parallel evolution, they are in no shape or form related.
