there are 4 proven hypos. several folks were involved in breeding trials to prove them out this year. there may be more hypos. More tests are needed.
hypoA standard
hypoB sunkissed
hypoC lava
hypoD ultra

The lava corns were discovered by Joe Pierce, who I am sure will get in on this to explain more. I believe that they came from his okeetees. They are indeed a 3rd type of hypo that he has proven. The ice ghosts are one of the first morphs produced with this hypo, crossed with an anery a. They look very different from a ghost. The lavas are very very brightly colored, hence the name. (Like a bright bed of lava flowing from a volcano) I was lucky enough to get a pair from him last year, and I can't wait until they are old enough to breed. This is a pic, that is not so great of my male.

Thanks for covering for me guys! I don’t check out his forum as often as I should. I think they covered the topic very well.

In addition to the Ice Ghost which are (Homo Lava and Anery A) I produced “Ice” Lavenders (Homo Lava Lav) this year and Carlos Lahitte produced an “Ice” Diamond (Homo Lava Charcoal) this year as well, which I just bought from him and should have next week. The names of these are just ideas at this point.

The Ice Ghost theme was an opposite theme which is accepted. Like Hot is to Cold, and Happy is to Sad, Ice is an Antonym to Lava. Anery A “Iced” out the hot Lava gene. The orange morphs are a hot morph and the Anery combo types are the cold morphs and the names may go that way.

Some of the very astute Corn Snake hobbyist may come up with other perfect names for the new morphs created with the Lava Hypo gene, that will work even better. I did not come up with the Lava name, but it is perfect and now accepted. I tried Transparent Hypo which did not fly and seems pretty stupid now.

Many other combos with Lava are currently being raised, which include: Striped Lav, Snow Motley, Anery Striped, Butter Motley and Bloods. Target Morphs included: Striped Lava Lavs (Striped Ice Lav), Striped Lava (Lava Flow) Striped Ice, Lava Motley( Lava Pool or Lava Bubbles? LOL), Motley Ice or Ice Motley (Ice Cubes), Lava Bloods, Ice Bloods, Lava Caramels (Lemon Ice maybe?) and perhaps others. Amel Lavas already exist that are a little different than Amels from the same clutch, so some of the above combos may have amel added to the mix, like Butter Lavas or something like that. Snow Lavas look like a Blizzard with lots of yellow. What ever the names end up being, I am using Lava and Ice interchangeably for Morphs that are homo for the Lava Hypo gene for now.

Here is a photo that I took today of the one and only Male Lava Lavender (Ice Lavender) at two months of age. Similar to a Hypo Lavender, but different.
