just bought my first savannah monitor

I just bought my first savannah, he is about 4 or 5 inches long, and very pretty, is washed and sifted playsand ok to use as a substrate??

No, it is a pretty horrid one. Try using dirt....nice plain dirt that will hopefully hold a burrow and some moisture. Several inches to a foot for now.
