Now I just need to fill it with some eggs. (pic)

I built this incubator over the weekend. I spent a total of about $30 and used some stuff that I had just laying around also. I am still testing to make sure it holds temps well, so far so good. After I get some more plastic containers, this should hold close to 140 or more eggs. I am probably going to have to build another one...I plan to have at least 15 if not 20 females breeding this season.

The deli cups on the bottom have cricket crystals to help maintain humidity and temperature. No water, if it spilled I would have a mess!

What are cricket crystals?

How are you heating it? And what all did you use to build it?

It intrigues me. I'd like to know more about how you built it so maybe then I can build myself one also.

very cool

you should make a page on how you did it so we can all steal your idea.

LOL...actually I did start a free webpage where people can go to "steal" my ideas! www.freewebs.com/herptips/

This incubator isn't on there, but I will probably build another one and post instructions and pics. I don't mnd if people want to use my ideas even if part of how I make my money is selling cages and other handy things I build!

If you look on the bottom of the cage you can see some blue lights. I heat this with a 6' length of blue rope light. It is hooked up to a thermostat to control the temps. I also have 3 digital thermometers in different locations so I can monitor the temps at all times. You can't see all that because it is on the side of the cage. Cricket crystals are the little gel things that hold water that some people use to water their insect feeders. I order the stuff in bulk and it only takes a few to fill those deli cups...and I do mean just a few!!
I will be sure to post when I put this design on my free web page.
