I have a 100% het for pied male that I bought a couple of months ago and I am just worried something may be wrong with him. He eats well but he does take a long time between poops. Almost a month. Also I have two hides in his cage and he does not use them. He has a newspaper substrate and he does not burrow under it. He sits out in the open all the time! Sometimes on the hot and sometimes on the cool side but never hidden. I have 5 other ball pythons and they hide most of the time and come out at night. This guy just lays curled up on top of the paper all the time. The hides are cardboard boxes like my other BP's have. He is also very aggressive for a BP and if I come into the room at night he will strike at me if I go near the glass. He also seems to like one certain position more than others and is usually sitting a certain way.
Could something be wrong with him? Does he just like to suntan?
When he eats he has a hard time figuring out where the head is too and sometimes I have to help him.

Try using smaller hides he may take to something smaller. Otherwise, if he is eating and defecating and is otherwise healthy I wouldn't worry about it. I have one that has never used any hide I've offered. Always squeezes between either the water dish and the side of his rubbermaid or his hide and the side of the rubbermaid.
As far as the attitude...that can be normal for young ball pythons. He may grow out of it ... he may not.
Either he is an exhibitionist or he doesn't like the hides? My bp will only use round hides - and of course they must be the usual low and tight that bps prefer. he's a looker!
