Keeping Crested Geckos with PDF's.

Reptonick Nov 09, 2004 07:10 PM

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with keeping dart frogs with their crested geckos?

Thanks,

Nick

Something small like Lecomelas, would probably become dinner. A bigger dart like tinctorius, would less likely be eaten.

All in all it sounds like a bad idea, although one that would be really fantastic if it worked. I have never spoken with one of the hard core geckophiles that mixed gek species, let alone other herps. Personally I do not do harems, only pairs. I keep all hatchlings in individual cages. I do not think it would be in any way a problem for the gex, but it may be a life and death proposition for the frogs. If you do decide to do it, let us know how it turns out.

that even captive born poison arrow frogs that are not poisonous to the touch to humans. are still poisonous if eaten. i just remember one being eaten by a cuban tree frog at a pet store and the tree frog died quite rapidly.

I would have to agree with that statement. You just wouldn't want to chance it.

Hey thanks. I;m lucky he is still alive after his daring escape last night. Found him in a wad of cat hair and carpet fuzz.... poor fella. My Tinc was a little smarter than him, he opted for NOT trying to escape.

Can relate to escaped animals. Just found my female R auriculatus last Sunday. She was MIA for 6 weeks. Must have a buggy house as she looked no worse for wear. Was beginning to think I would never see her again...

yeah, i agree that PDF's are still poisonous if eaten. if i were you, i wouldn't try mixing them together to test the chances if they'd survive... coz if the PDF is eaten - it's gone... and if it's poisonous when ingested, they're both gone

When I saw PDF's in the title of this forum, the first thing that came to mind was .pdf files, as in acrobat reader files. Guess I have too much computer geek in me still and not enough herp I am getting two created geckos next week, so hopefully that puts me on the right path again
