Emerald Tree Boa Vs Green Tree Python

charky2002 Nov 09, 2004 08:32 PM

Which of these is a better one to start with (I have never really worked with arboreals before) I love the look of the emeralds (thats why I am on this forum rather than the chondros)but I have heard they can be pretty tricky to care for. I'm currently researching the requirements for both species and they seem fairly similar but am still hearing that emeralds should be avoided. I really love the emeralds so if anyone could tell me different i'd love to hear it Thanks

I am of the opinion that if you have the set up right and ready before the animal arrives, read everything you can about care, ask questions and buy cbb there is no reason not to start out in arboreals with either one. I personally am biased to emeralds.

I agree with Craig. There are no tricks, all of the information is out there.

The first snake I ever owned was an Emerald. If you get the humidity correct I don't see any reason why you can't keep one alive for a long long time.

A little trick I have is use MethlaneBlu (I am unsure on the spelling of that) in your water. It prevents most fungus from growing even if your ventilation is not that great.

Hope that helps
