Garters mating...ALREADY???

wildthing642 Nov 10, 2004 12:44 AM

Hey everyone!

The other day I caught my breeding pair of Eastern Garter Snakes mating. Yes, thats right, mating!

But it's weird, they're supposed to be doing that in spring. They went at it humpign for almost 2 days, and yes I am positive. But what I was wondering, is why? These are captive bread, and they generally go through brumatino but I hav'nt even done it yet. So whats going on?

If these are the same eastern pair you got from me then it is because I had started to cool them down and when you got them and started to heat them up they just thought it was a short winter! Remember not to feed the babies together if you get any and you should that female had around 30 this last spring. If you feed the babies together then there will be competition and you will end up with some cannabilism!!!
