To give you a perspective on his size, this cage is 4' X 6', that bowl is 12.0" around and he consumes one full bowl everyday!I love this guy, hes a complete sweetheart! He can be a real pain sometimes but that pales in comparison to how rewarding it is to keep this species.

i have one question and one suggestion...

Question:
How tall is the cage?

Suggestion:
Lose the bark as substrate. particulate substrate is bad b/c they can ingest it and get impacted requiring surgery.

just tryingto help

I wasn't really looking for suggestions but I will reply to your posts: First let me say that this is a temporary enclosure, he will soon be in an outdoor setting. In regards to hieight its 3.0' tall, this guy is over ten years old and once hes in his basking spot doesn't do a whole lot of climbing. As far as UVB rays go, he has access to unfiltered sunlight when he basks in my front yard several times a month. I don't know if you've ever used a UV light meter but those cheezy flourescent UV bulbs they sale for $39.00 don't measure 100th of the noon day sun. Basically that boils down to 12 hours a day for 30 days under UV bulbs is less effective than 1 hour of unfiltered sunlight. Subsatrate, well everybody has an opinion on whats right. I know of many examples of substrate ingestion, bark, wood chips, aspen, etc.. I have not had any issues with Cypress mulch in the many years I've used it with several lizard species and will continue to use it. I raised this lizard from a foot and half lizard to six feet 15 pounds, so I must be doing something right. Thanx for you input, hope you guys enjoy the pictures.
