Range of Black Rats Anyone out there know what it is?

I saw a cool lucy one I would like to invest my $ in but if they are native to Georgia I can't own them.

well if i'm correct, GA says you can't have anything thats native to the state. However, they do differentiate between different subspecies of rat snake - such as texas, gray, everglades, etc. So, if you're really wanting a leucy rat, you could get a texas leucy rat - now dont go and soley get this on what i'm saying here because im only 95% sure its correct - but since texas rats are not even anywhere close to Ga, they would be able to be kept

It's true, Georgia law states that you can't own native species. Unfortunately, the black rat's range does extend into the northern half of Georgia. Not to be the devil's advocate...but I highly doubt the Georgia DNR would kick down your door to confiscate a little black ratsnake. Owning a leucy TX rat might be a better solution. You might have a hard time convincing them that your white snake is not the same species as the other white snake.
