new to rainbow boas!!!

cat Nov 10, 2004 11:36 AM

hi!

i'm cat and i'm new to keeping rainbow boas, (but not new to snakes)

i've just started off my collection with a hatchling colombian rainbow. Not sure of the sex, for now it will be a 'she'. shes sweet and pretty, if a little nippy!

i was wondering if you guys could post pics of your colombians and if you've any wisdom to share about keeping rainbows, i know there are things that only experience can teach you!

cheers for reading, i'm still so excited!

Congrats on your new rainbow. I'd try and offer you some words of experience, but I have never kept a crb. I wouldn't want to set you off in the wrong direction. Have fun.

Cat,
...Colombian Rainbows are great snakes. When they are little their requirements are like the Brazilian Rainbow Boas. After they are mature they are much less demanding of temperature and humidity. Adults at least the males also eat much less than Brazilian Rainbows. This one is a 13 year old male. he eats about 10 medium rats a year. For info about raising Rainbow Boas have a look at my website or read through the old posts here on the forum.
