What other lizards can live with leos?

VTEC Nov 10, 2004 11:42 AM

I am interested in adding another lizard to my 1 male leo's 20gal long tank. I would add a female but I don't to have to seperate them when she gets pregnant. I want something that can live with him that he wont breed with. Can any other species of female gecko live with a leo and not breed?

if you can get a retired breeder, you don't have to worry about eggs or anything and they should co-exist quite nicely.

So my male won't try to breed with an older female? Or will he successfully "do" her but she will not get pregnant?

I've had a male with my retired female for about 9 months now. When I first put them together, they did mate, she did not get pregnant (there weren't even developing folicles). For a month or so after that, I think he wanted to some more, but she didn't seem to let him. MAKE SURE they are the same size, or at least very close. If he doesn't back off like mine did, and continues to torment her, you may at some point need to seperate them. I have not had that problem, but I might in the spring (when its breeding season again) Most males will lay off after a while though.

It is never a good idea to mix different species. Sorry but i would recomend just leaving your male leo by himself for now
