I recently agreed to foster an adult corn, who my friend had rescued from an owner who starved him. He was skin & bones when she got him a few months ago & she got him back up to normal weight, but she never took him to the vet. He's 15 yrs old. I'm certain he's got a respiratory infection. He's sneezing & rubbing his face. I'm trying to encourage him to stay on his warm side, to clear it up, but he's not staying there.
On top of this, I'm fairly certain he's blind. His eyes just look a little different, hard to describe, very "wide open" pupils & no tracking or movement of the eye. He doesn't seem to see things waved in the air near him, until they hit something & make vibrations he can pick up on. Plus, when I shine a light in his eyes, they don't dialate, like my other corn's do.
I'm going to schedule a vet visit for the RI, but was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for treating it & also any suggestions for helping him in his life, to deal w/ the blindness? Should I approach him differently, feed him differently, etc...? Any help would be appreciated.
