Baby Red-Eared Slider Won't Eat

leslieg123 Nov 10, 2004 04:24 PM

I acquired 2 tiny baby red-eared sliders Sunday at a herp show. They're captive bred.

They won't eat.

They're in a 20 gallon long tank, a nice setup with basking rocks & a filter. I've tried baby turtle food sticks, small crickets, and bits of ham.

How do I coax these little ones to eat?

Also, do I need to heat the water above room temp?

Thanks!
Leslie

give them time to acclimate. the water in my tank is around 78ish. the basking area hotter. um...feed them romaine to nibble for now then work on pelleted food.

It takes time for new turtles to get acclimated. Keep things as quiet as possible and routine for them, and offer a variety of foods.

Let me know if they don't eat in another week or so.

Also, consider using a feeder tank once you get them eating.

Good luck!
