Savannah has weird stool?

diz-awn Nov 10, 2004 06:22 PM

This is something new to me and I hope someone can help.A friend has a savannah that was a baby last year and is now about 36 inches long from head to tail.In the last couple of weeks the unsexed lizard has past a gel looking stool. They explained it to me as looking like gut load with calcium but more orange and oval shape. The substrate they are keeping it on is dirt and the monitor gets a well balanced diet with small mice, crickets ,cooked eggs, cooked chicken and turkey. What is going on?Please help!

Unfortunatly its hard to say withough seeing the stool. It doesnt sound like anything I have seen befor. It could possibly be from something it ingested. I would keep an eye on it to see if th eorangy stool keeps appearing. If it keeps appearing, take a sample to your local veterinarian and have them check it for parasites and or harmful bacteria. This can often times be done withought an appointment and is usually pretty cheap. Hope this helps!
