Weird Tail Wiggle?

beljam1 Nov 10, 2004 06:27 PM

I was watching one of my baby ATBs tonight and it seemed to be wiggling its tail. At first I thought it was going to defecate but it did this for ~3 minutes until I flashed the camera. I have never heard of Amazons doing this, GTPs but not Amazons. Has anyone else ever observed this with Amazons? He ate about 5 days ago and has only been fed mice pinkies/fuzzies.

Judging by the fresh white uric acid smeared on his tail and the branch it looks like you just missed him peeing a bit...

Corallus have never been noted to caudal lure, they don't have the same amount of articulation in their tails that chondros have for the most part. Could be though...who knows.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the same thing at first but usually when they defecate the keep their tale stiff, this snake kept it in constant motion. I observed the same behaviour the next day as well from the same snake. The ATB appears to be healthy otherwise, eating and defecating normally. Im going to video tape next time it happens. Thanks again.
