Question: Has this ever happened to any of you?

kcsuther Nov 10, 2004 06:54 PM

Ok so i got my second leo about four days ago and she is seperated from my male in a different cage, she would not eat for the first four days no matter what i tried, but today she took some superworms from some tweezers that i held infront of her. not five minutes after she ate the two superworms she came out of her hide and through them up, then went back into her hide, my question is, what is up with her? my other leo never did anything like that

I don't like using superworms, they're too big for my taste.

I use meal worms and wax worms, and crickets.

Try using a smaller worm, it could be that they were too big to digest so she was forced to throw them up.

It could be that but i do not think so because my other leo is smaller and he eats the superworms and digests them, i think i will take her to the vet because i dont know what is wrong

It is great that you are so willing to take your little gecko to the vet and that is probably a really good idea. Make sure to bring a nice fresh fecal with you too

Is your female a baby or an adult? If she is a baby it may be that she just cant digest the hard chitin (spelling?) of the worms. I would try going with squishier worms like wax, silk or butter Good luck and keep us posted!

She is not a baby, I would guess she is about 9 or 10 months old, i say this because the pet store did not konw her age either, and my male is approximately 7 months, she has a nice big enclosure with the right temps, i think you guys might be right that the worms are too big, that would explain why my male only poops every so often and the are killer big, thanks for the tips
