dann6 Nov 10, 2004 07:52 PM

I purchased a 2 month old brb last saturday feed it two hopper mice and it reguritated one of them tuesday . It ate on saturday, I handeled on sunday. Now it shows no intrest in food. Temp is 80, humidity is 80. Could their be a problem or was the snake handeled to early.

I think your humidity if fine, and 80 is probably okay ......but since you didn't mention a temperature gradient I will. My young ones seem to prefer 76 to 78. Another degree or two higher and they will go to the cooler side. I try to watch where they prefer to hang out and adjust accordingly. I would suspect you just fed too large a meal intially and that is what caused the regurgitation. I would wait 7-10 days before attempting to feed again, and then offer a very large fuzzy or small hopper mouse. Only one. Also, handling should be left to an only as needed basis....for example, if it passes something remove the snake and clean the house. I would definately clean out it's enclosure and then leave it to be. I have had good results with feeding new arrivals a smaller than normal meal and waiting until it passes then increasing the size of the next meal over a period of 3 weeks. I have been feeding every 6 to 8 days at 2 months old. After a few good meals, then handling is begun on a more intense level.

Just what I do.....hope it helps.
