GTP Cage Top Idea

HotRodHerps Nov 10, 2004 09:40 PM

I know most people use melamine or plastic cages due to thier ability to retain humidity better than glass tanks with screen lids.

But it occurred to me that if I made a tight fitting wood or melamine top and installed smaller vents I should have the best of both worlds, visibility and proper heat/humidity levels.

Any thoughts?

This is true and I have seen people do this but at the same time if the opening is at the top of the cage, you must take off any items atop your lid (heat lamp, spray bottle, or whatever) and reach in from the top. If u are gonna go through the trouble of designing and building a top, you might consider building a cage or having one built to siut your prefernces

That's one impressive looking cage! I love the pull out drawer for the substrate.

Thanks for the reply.
