Gold cornsnake!!! . . .

BlueKing Nov 10, 2004 11:29 PM

Here is another pic of a WC female found on 23 Sept in Se NC.This is the only (yellow)one I've ever found in 25 years of herping- all the others were always red/gray or red/orange. . .
She has some very NICE black bordering like my okeetees also! She's a little over 3.5foot long and already eating out of my hands like there's no tomorrow!

In your post, you said that this was "another" pic, the implication being that there was one previous. If I'm reading that right, I'm dead positive all of us who missed it would like to see the first pic, too. That is a killer snake you've got there.

Ar you going to try to breed her? Maybe you could make a whole new morph!!

That snake is really impressive! I hope you get to breed her to something completely normal in every way, so that no other genes are found floating in the mix of those babies.

What would be great is if they appear absolutely normal in every way, with no extra yellow coloration. That way, you can for her yellow being cause by a recessive gene, rather than simple breeding influences from a specified area.

A xanthic gene in corns would be too cool to work with...especially from a wild caught source!!!

see what happens.......

this is how R ich Zuchow-ski got the first caramel....a straw colored corn he "found in a pet shop".....

breed these to ambers and see what happens....

this is a very nice animal.........anerythristic- like colors....no reds......

.....good luck.....keep us posted..........and offer us kids.....LOL

definetely breed her next spring - probably to this male that I found only 1 mile from her! Both were saved from cars that were coming up behind me! And ironically both were caught only 10 minutes apart on the same day!
A pic of her (soon-to-be) mate from the same area (both are from Cumberland county, NC.)If I can find another yellowish male corn (before spring), than I'll try that route. . .
I will be posting pics of her babies as soon as it happens.
