what can i keep a black pine snake on? i know a popular choice is pine shavings or aspin, but if i could i really love to stay away from woodshavings,, they get every where. Could i keep it on dry forest floor? You know the kind that comes in a brick, you add water and it expands? If i used it once it was dry?
i want the tank to be a good looking display and if i have to i'll use shavings but they look like crap too. Any suggestions would be great, or pics of the tanks you have set up
thanks a bunch

I was going to reccomend the bed-a-beast style product, BUT, contrary to twhat you think, it is fairly messy to deal with if you take your animals out of the cage often as I do. I just tried it, and used only half the water as reccomended, and a week later it still sticks all over my hands and my snake. The pine shavings are the cleanest. But ... my cornsnake really seems to love the new stuff, she burrows and just peaks her head out and never moves.

I have tried that "brick" stuff. The initial process of wetting it and wringing it out was a pain the neck (I didn't know what I was doing and I used too much water). I only have tried it one time so far. But eventually it dries out and then I think it does look cool. However, I found that it packs down fairly hard and my snake can't burrow in it very well. The poop is easy to scoop out though.
