Black Pastel Ball

pj_farmer Nov 11, 2004 08:30 AM

Does anyone have any information on the so called Black Pastel ball python? I have been hearing bits and pieces about it around the snake world and haven't been able to see any pictures or read up on it.

My first thought is that it was the axanthic pastel ball, is this true or what?

Any help or insight would be great!!

Thanks guys, and happy breeding season.

Black Pastel is the same thing as the Cinnamon Pastel...check the usual sites for info.....NERD, Ralph Davis Reptiles, or Greg Graziani's web site....links are at the top of this forum under sponsors.

Here is a picture of B.H.B. Enterprises Supper Cinnamon Pastel. This is what most are referring to as a black ball. It is pictured next to a Bumble Bee.

Thanks for the replys. I did some research and the posts helped. Looks like the Black Pastel is the same as a Cinnamon. I am guessing Ian is calling his the Black Pastel, while everyone else is calling it the Cinnamon.

I wonder if these two blood lines can be bred together?

What a nice project that would be to get in. Pewter Pastels and more!!!!

black pastel would look something like a cinammon-- but it looks like the pic of the adult male breeder for $6,500 posted a few days ago in the classifieds by renissance (sp?) reptiles
the difference is small.
check out the amber pastels---almost pewter like but with more pastel color---poss cinammon that was probrably a black pastel resulted in this morph---"just a guess"

So you are sure that a black pastel and cinammon are not the same? There was a black pastel breeder for $6500?? Well if thats true then they can't be the same, with cinnammons going for around 10k.

They aren't selling this snake as a black pastel, but as a differnt kind of snake, nothing that has been proven.

the black pastel and cinnamon both produce almost the same super form of snake. Maybe a slightly different darkness or lightness differentiating them but either way i think they are the same snake you dumb idiot lol. Ill be by later to help your brother.

That's what I thought. So I am assuming you'll get similar results from a Black Pastel to a Jungle Pastel = Pewter Pastel? May be something that looks a bit differet, but same idea?

I guess I just haven't seen as many projects with the black pastel. That's where my questions come from.

Well that is my assumption, the only way to prove it would be to see what comes out when a black pastel is bred to a pastel. if they are pewters, its the same thing, if not then we are working with something totally different.
