I recently bought an adult female blue tegu and when it showed up it had a lot of orange on its belly, back and neck. What is the deal with this?
This is the firt tegu I have seen with this coloring.

Tupinambis merianae is HIGHLY polymorphic. I've been involved with breeding a large number of them in Brazil, and from a single clutch you will find nearly all white ones, nearly all black ones, inbetween, so-called "blues", orange belly with black backs,orange over most of the surface, "spotted" ones, etc. I even had one that many hobbyists insisted on telling me was T.rufescens because of its all red colour, despite the fact that both his parents were T.merianae.
