Male gecko hyper...mating behavior?

Starling Jun 30, 2003 02:30 PM

My male gecko is making a lot of noise, slapping his tail around the sides of the enclosure or something, and I hear lots of moving around noises. When I look to see what's going on he is up on his legs staring intently at the female who is in the hide. Is this mating behavior? Is he frustrated she won't come out? I haven't noticed this before and he has been on Baytril, it may just be that he is feeling better and wants to mate now. But wondering if hyperactivity can be side effect of Baytril

sounds like he might be wanting to mate, and get her attention. Is she sick also?

Not sure, she was exposed to him so she is being treated. The Cefadroxil seems to be working beautifully so I will be giving all animals that. Just spoke to a specialist and cancelled appt for tomorrow, will reschedule if all animals do not respond as expected (as the one who has been getting it has) to the cefadroxil.

I wish you luck!

I don't know if hyper activity is a side effact of meds but this definately sounds like mating behavior. Your male just doesn't seem to be very aggressive. My male will usually go in to the female's spot and bite at her to mate w/ him. I wake up to the vibration of his tail against stuff all the time, he gets very excited lol.
