Veiled Chameleons, about to make my first major purchase.
I live in New York, I'll have 10 cages to worry about. In a bad winter my unheated basement can drop lower than 50*F at night.
With this in mind I'm debating setups.
48"x24"x24" cages I think will be ideal for the space I have available. All screen will be perfect in the summer, currently with 90* weather the basement is a stable 70*
My current thoughts are
Radiant Heat Panel and a UV Strip light... power efficient, and it allows one heat source to be run 24/7
or
Mercury Vapor bulbs, with ceramic emitters as backups for cold nights..... inefficient, expensive.
Now I need help filling in the other blanks... necessary exposure to UV rays, temperature gradients, etc...
I haven't worked with veileds in years, I'm so excited to get back into them..
Thank you so much for your help, all my brainstorming is giving me a headache!
