Hi everyone! This is my first post here. I have three tortoises: a male/female pair of russians and a year and a half or so old female sulcata. All three are rescues.
I ended up with my sulcata last March, when someone who comes into the pet store I work at mentioned how he had her and she wasn't eating and he didn't want her anymore. I never wanted to own a sulcata, simply because it's one of those animals I don't think most people should keep as pets. (Our store would never sell them, thank goodness!) But I took her off his hands anyway, mostly just to get her to a better place. She's done amazingly up until this week.
I've never had problems with her eating at all, despite her previous owners complaints. This is the first really cold week here in Philadelphia, and she hasn't eaten much at all. She's in an appropriate sized enclosure for her size, with proper heating and UVB light. Could this just be a change of seasons thing? This is the first winter I'm going into with her, and I'm pretty nervous. I don't want to do anything wrong. I was thinking of mixing some fruit with her regualr feed as kind of a treat to get her into eating.
Any suggestions would be very greatly appreciated!
