RES trying to pass a rock?

Kivey03 Nov 11, 2004 07:06 PM

I have a RES approx. 6in. in length. I think it's a male. I've seen him pass small river rocks before with no problem. today I noticed he was at the bottom of the aquarimium and it looked like he was having a very big black bowel movement. It can out approx. a 1/2 in. and blossomed out but then went back in!! Is this his male organ or is he trying to pass a big rock? He hasn't ate today but otherwise seems fine. He's still doing his mating dance to my other slightly smaller RES. Does anybody know whats going on here? Please help!

also... why does he pass rocks??? he shouldnt be eating them! if he's eating them from your tank, then you definitely should change your stones... because if one doesnt pass, it could get stuck in his innerds and kill him!

all that stuff about little rocks killing turtles is a old wives tale. turtles eat little rocks all the time. me vet told me that and hes got a bunch of difernt kinds of turtles, some real old ones too, and they all eat litle pebbles. its big rocks you have to wory about
