Need help with a snake

msubigdawg Nov 11, 2004 10:11 PM

Ok this isnt about a boa but this is the only place I post. Their is a Ball python at the local pet store and it is in bad shape. Someone brought it in and I really want to help it because it makes me want to cry. I believe it has scale rot because from the mid section to the tail it looks like it is rust color most of its body and just looks bad and the snake is really skinny. Does anyone know something cheap I could do to help this snake. Trust me I hate local pet stores because of how the animals are treated but I love snakes so I want to help this one. I would really appreciate some help.

Why don't you ask the folks at the pet store to take care of their animal? Maybe ask them nicely and tell them that it shouldn't look like that. Maybe that might help.

The thing is I kinda worked/volunteered there for a littl while but crap like this kept happening. I just hate seeing snakes like this so I am trying to find a way to help it out.

two things you can do are
swab the affected area with a diluted water/iodine solution - a bottle of iodine can cost a couple dollars.
soak her in a tub of pedialyte - this is like a 'vitamin water' and is usually made for kids.. this will give it a bit of a jumpstart and may help it pull through so you can do more.. try feeding and getting it established again.

sad to say probably anything you do would be better than leaving it there.

take care, Joe
