Redoing boas cage

bigdee Nov 11, 2004 11:34 PM

Well i decided to redo my boas cage instead of building one. I built this cage from a large wood table that I broke down. What really needs to be changed is the door its really flimsy so im going to keep the plexi and take the whole door and litter dam off and completly redo it. I think I will also seal the seams better. I need advice on the door, the tools I have are drill and circular saw. For the door I wanted to get one piece and cut out opening and just screw the plexin on. Can I cut a 1 peice frame with a circular saw? if not what do u suggest I do? For the floor I wanted to get heat rope and line the bottom of the cage then go to home depot find some type of plastic lining and put over the heat rope, How should I do this? is space needed for air and what type of plastic should I be looking for? I not going with heat tape because I hear to be safe with heat tape u have to do it properly which some sort of expensive tool is needed cost like $200. The cage is the one on the bottom. Than you for your help

I would say if you have a lot of experiance with a circular saw you could cut it with no problem but if you dont then buy a jigsaw. They are cheap at around $20 at Wal-Mart and much easier to cut out with. Just drill a hole at one corner then insert the blade and follow the lines. With a circular saw you will need to clamp the piece down and start cutting from the middle by holding the guard up and sinking the blade in then clean up the corners with a hand saw or sharp chisel.
