escape artist

Well, the baby Corn Snake I bought close to a week ago has flew the coop. He is very small, from the picture I posted the other day. Now, will he eventually come around or is there anyway to lure him out from where he is, or is he pretty much good as dead?

I'm very upset, he is my third Corn I've had and I never had one escape and now this is rough since he is so small.

ok now, have you looked yet? Its very unlikely that your snake will just crawl out along the middle of the floor, and even more unlikely that you wil catch him doing this.

With this being said, search. start around his cage and look inside every little box you think he could possibly get into. Then look in every box that theres no way he could get into. Thats where you most likely will find him. Also, start going along your walls and go up. If you have any holes in your drywall, I don't want to be a bearer of bad news, but there is a high chance that it went in there.

Since corns like to climb, look in both directions of your tank first. See if there is any place where it could climb and lay down. Maybe a desk, or the inset of a wall or something. When mine escaped, I found him in a TV inset on my wall.

Good luck on searching! If you don't find him, there are a bunch of tricks to lure him out to the center of your room.

Also, how long has it been?

I was holding him before I left the house yesterday, and I was gone for about 3 hours & came back and couldn't find him. So now, it's probably been well over 12 hours.

I lost my corn twice and both times got her back..I wouldnt give up totally..The first time she was gone 3weeks and we found her outside in the rafters of an old shed..The second time I found her after two weeks in the bathroom, she was very thirsty and seemed to know there was water in there. She drank for like five minutes right out of my hand..Anyway there is hope...I consider myself very very lucky and have changed the screen top on her tank since then..I hope you get the little bugger back...

I have ALWAYS found them sooner or later. I remember the first few times I would be sure that they were gone forever. But in a few days or weeks there they are again. Sometimes in the most unlikely places. I lived with a wild Texas Rat Snake in my house for many weeks. Even that big guy was found finally in the washing machine. Don't give up. They'll turn up again.

It depends on the type of house, the number of cats and dogs and thie access to an escape route.

I have actually had five escape over the last few years.
Always due to my stupidity.
Four never seen again. I happened to find one probably within about 15 minutes of its escape when one of my dogs started barking at it.
Most of my snakes are kept in an upstairs den?reptile room.
This little snow was in the downstairs hallway inches from a floor vent.
My house was built in '48 and there are easy escape routes but I also have 8 cats and 5 dogs so if they don't find an escape route quickly then .......

this may sound silly, but have you thouroughly checked the cage? my corn is so adept at hiding in his bedding that I have twice thought he was gone and realized that he was only curled up under his water dish or laying along the inside of his log. I don't mean to be insulting, I really have been panicked for an hour before I realized that he was in there all along. you get this great stupid relief feelig. Good luck!

I've checked the tank inside and out, under and over everything. He is definetly gone. I knew to do this from my last corn, he would be under the water dish or in the corner of the screen top.
