Is this a good idea, for Iguanas, if not what would be a good carpet type substrate?

thanks Mike

We use indoor outdoor commercial carpet in a green color. Just make sure you get the kind that is not looped if you buy it because their claws can catch on it. Someone else suggested bath mats or bath towels. Mainly it depends on how you are planning on cleaning it and how large your cage is (the base area). With the commercial carpet it is in a really large piece and we keep one extra to alternate if it gets tood dirty. Otherwise we use a shop vac and disinfectant or even a scrub brush if it gets too dirty. We can throw it in the washer because it is flexible enough. Someone said there's "strings" when it is washed but we haven't had that problem.

i keep my leopards on the same thing. as long as it is not the looped kind it should be just fine. the word of caution i would give is be realy festideus about picking up and loose pieces, i don;t worry much about it with my geckos cause they don't eat greens but it have never had a problem with this type of substrate and i have been using it for years with all size iggys.

Actually i was at a local petstore yesterday and noticed it. it looks like pretty good stuff! they arent looped its just like yhick craft felt that is washable, the only thing i would be afraid of is that its not to thick maybe quarter inch, and when water falls on it will soak up,i just use a large beach towel ant fold it onto bottom... He likes it and it holds humidity well
