Pacman frog hibernating?

moko Nov 12, 2004 10:59 AM

Clover has buried herself and has not been out in two days. The spot where she's under is very close and partially on the heat pad under the tank. Can I disturb her? Is it dangerous to be on the pad for so long? She has never buried herself before now.

Don't worry. Clover is just doing what comes natural. Large frogs, like pac-mans and African bullfrogs will often hibernate when the weather cools off. In the wild, they may sleep for much of the year, coming up during the warm, rainy months to feed and breed. My African bullfrog, Spot will hibernate for about 4 months. Just look at the positive side - you'll save some money. Just be prepared with a bath and food when she wakes up!
