No no no no no. Calci-sand calims to be digestable but it isnt at all, it cause cause impactions and death. If it is a baby leo the best thing to do is keep him on paper towels until he is about 6mo old. After that, if you like the look of sand buy fine washed play sand from home depot, its about 2$ for a 50lb bag, and its much much safer!

Calci-sand, the Bone-Aid brand, is fine for a gecko over 6". Although it may not be digestable as it claims, it will not impact your geckos. The reason sand impaction accures is because when they swallow sand, it gets wet and clumps together inside their body. Calci-sand doesn't clump when wet, so it will pass through the body. I don't really recommend sand, as it's just a mess. I really like repti-carpet, it's even easier than paper towels, all you need to do to clean the cage is spray it with a hose and let it dry.

I would not put one grain of sand in a leo cage..... With all the info out there I am suprized people are still stupid enough to put sand in a leos cage..... I just isnt worth the risk.... Sand is not goof for hatchlings or adults.... The sand may pass through the digestive system sometimes and sometimes it will not pass and will cause impaction..... This can lead to a dead leo..... Do you think it is worth the risk????
