I have a 10 gallon tank in which I keep my male pacman hes like 3 inches long and 3 inches wide but when hes buried he goes completely to the bottom of the tank and lays on top of the glass.So I bought a tank that was a square frame with nothing in the center and I can look up under the tank and see his white stomach with his feet tucked in.Looks neat lol.

Mine does that too; sometimes you can hear her feet squeaking on the glass as she tries to burrow further!
I put in a bit more substrate, and it seems like she's more content now with its depth and does not try to go so deep anymore.
