Thomasville: Tony Herring of Thomasville was hunting with a friend in Brooks County when he was bitten on the leg by a canebrake rattler. Luckily, they weren't too far from a hospital.
Herring says, "The snakes are looking for their winter habitat, and they become particularly aggressive this time of year. That's why, the circumstances on this particular snake, there was no warning whatsoever, never rattled."
Herring was given more than 40 vials of antivenin. He says the normal dosage is about 8 vials.

"Aggressive". Yeah, right. Bitten on the leg, the guy either stepped on the snake or so close to it as to cause the snake to fear for its life & defend itself. Typical defensive bite.

Mr Longhurst;
Being a 'newt guy' (critters not exactly known for their dental damage ... though a pod of them can give you a good gumming!), I'm not exactly qualified to pass judgement on anything venom ... but if you go to the WALB news page, and go down the right hand side to the news videos ... as of 6 PM Sat Syracuse NY time - there was a short 37 sec video that describes exactly what you did! (By the way, there is a 15 sec commercial before it switches to the real item)
Good call!
