Baby leo eating habits

VTEC Nov 12, 2004 07:42 PM

I recently bought a baby tremper albino (yesterday) and she hasn't eaten a mealie yet. Is it normal for them not to eat for a few days since they get a little stressed from the transportsettling process? What food setup do you guys use on baby leos? (dish or throw in a few)

very normal. Don't let him go too long though. Try some small crix in another day or two. the hunt seems to encourage them a little.

if you ever get worried, rip a heat off a mealie and put alittle guts on his mouth. It'll remind him of that good 'ol home style cooking, and he'll eat it up. I probably wouldn't give him more than one, just give him enough to remind him food is yummy

I use the lid to a baby food jar for a dish. Anything higher than that and your little one won't be able to see inside it. I have never purchased a baby leo, but the adults or juvies that I have gotten usually don't eat for the first week or so. It takes them a while to get settled in, especially when I've had leos shipped to me. Though you shouldn't let a baby go that long without food, because they have no fat storage in their tails yet. I'd say try some small crickets, or pick the most active meals out to give to your baby, to try and stimulate it to hunt. Hope this helps! Good luck.
