I have been an owner of snakes for 5 years now. I own a red tail boa, JCP, Borneo blood, and a dumeril's boa. Now I have a 55 gallon aquarium waiting for some lucky snake. I am stuck between a spotted python and a Irian Jaya carpet python. I am looking for a snake that can live its entire adult life in a 55 gallon aquarium. I know IJCP are aboreal, so I'm wondering if a 55 Gallon (long) will suffice. I'm just looking for opinions on these two snakes, and maybe if you know of any others that would do fine living its full life in a 55 gal (long), that would help to. I'd love to own them all, but my new apartment won't fit that many.

Thanks in advanced for your info.

If it was me, I'd get the Spotted Python. I am biased here, but I think it would do fantastic in that tank. I have one in a 29 gal. and she seems to love it. that's my 2 cents worth.

I'd go with a the carpet out of the two. If you get it, when it grew up, would it be possible to flip the tank so that it stood taller? But of all the snakes you could get, I'd say get a brazilian rainbow boa. Those are my personal favorite
