Snapping turtle in a pond

kungfu2811 Nov 12, 2004 10:58 PM

Hey all,
Was wondering if its OK to keep an alligator snapping turtle in a small outdoor, unheated pond. I live in Sacramento, California. Think it would get too cold?

Thanks,
Andrew

If the alligator snapper cannot be kept in the conditions I listed, are there any other types that can?

Thanks,
Andrew

You need to keep the water temp at least 80 degrees. And they seem to thrive best at 81-82 or so.
