Whites tree frogs and pinkie mice

jasonmattes Nov 13, 2004 12:13 AM

I have read that whites can eat pinkie mice..is that true and if so is it healthy for them....if fed a pinkie once a week would calcium powder still be necessary?

Once a week is too often, i wouldn't feed them any more often than once every few months

is there any real purpose then in feeding mice?....doesnt sound like if its only once every few months......

the only reason i would feed a pinkie is if i had a very thin frog, they fatten them up quick. I have three fat, healthy whites for 3 years and i have never fed them a pinkie, just gut loaded dusted crickets/earthworms/very occasional mealworm/silkworms.

I'm feeding my WTFs a pinkie a week because they were very thin when i bought them but now they seem to be gaining weight. They are also high in protein and calcium, so on the whole they are quite healthy. However if the frogs seem to be getting too fat you should reduce pinkies to once a month and eventually even less.
