what is the hog island boa crossed with?

kayle Nov 13, 2004 09:00 AM

true hog island boas cost a lot of money since they are not found in the wild. and i have seen one in a pet shop for a lot less than true hogs so it has been crossed with something.
what is the hog island boa commonly crossed with?

Pure Hog's for 150.00 & up, even though Hog Island Boa's, are extinct in the wild there are alot of Breeder's working with pure Hog's. Some of the Hog cross's are more in price than pure Hog's, Hypo X Hog for example ! Most of this year's offspring have been sold already, but here are some web-site's for "Pure Hog Island Boa's" www.pmherps.com www.classreptilia.com Good Luck in your search ! !

I'm not sure what you mean by "a lot" as far as price goes.. but I believe it is possible to purchase "true Hoggs (babies)" from very reliable breeders for less than 300 (more usually 175 to 250)? which I would not say is a "lot". Hoggs that have been crossed with very nice hypos can sell for much more - up to $1000 or more. I believe there are BCI's that have some Hogg blood in them but since we can not monitor crossings like some people would like.. it is enventual that many "common BCI's" being sold might have some Hogg influence. I have started purchasing from people who can verify the lineage of the animals they are selling if I am concerned about that.

i dont yet have a job or any other income so i kind of consider 150.00 as a lot.
