Do all of these snakes get huge?

Amanda E Nov 13, 2004 09:01 AM

I have a friend that has a Jungle/Diamond cross that is the most beautiful python I've ever seen, and it is huge!

It's about 10 feet long and at the largest part of it's body it's about 6-7 inches in diameter.

I'd love to get one just like my friends, but they're just a little too expensive for me.
Would a normal jungle python grow to that length and girth?

Hi Amanada;

The ten-foot jungle/diamond cross is usually about as big as they come. I have a ten-foot female coastal carpet python that came in as a rescue a month ago or so (making a total of two coastals now) but,fat and healthy, weighs less than half of my 9-foot common boa. I also have a 5-year old male jungle that is pushing five feet. If you want a smaller carpet, your best bet would be purchasing a male. Irian Jaya carpets are the smallest of the group, though I have heard of 7-foot females. Either way, they are totally worth looking in to!

a friend of mine has a big coastal/diamond cross...its gotta be 9-10 ft...and quite the b**ch
I think mostly it depenends on the snake and how well they are fed..there is a difference between power feeding and feeding well..just so nobody gets on my case..
