hey everyone I'm back.....

LeopardGecko05 Nov 13, 2004 10:11 AM

Hey, everyone I'm back from this break. Well anyway I just want to recap everything that has happen to me since the last time I been on. On October 25, 2004 my Leopard Gecko died . Mad I was I was sad that this happened. At first, I was going to give up on raising animals, but then I thought to myself. Maybe I should keep raising animals. So, know I'm currently preparing the tank I have for the arrival of Leopard Geckos I'm getting from the pet store.

Here's my question, finally I bet you're saying, how do I go about keeping my Leopard Gecko warm from the cold when I buy them from the store today?

Thanks in advance,
LeopardGecko05

Well i dont really know where you live(i say this because i know some places are big in car theft and stuff like that)... But you can keep your car on with the heat on so that your gecko won't free on its journy home.

I'd hate to bring up bad memories but do you know any idea how it died? and have you fixed the problem and cleaned all your stuff so it doesnt happen again?

get them at petco if they look healthy

burn petsmart to the ground

i would just go a to a show if i were you. save some money and get something healthy

Thats pretty much why i asked that question. If there isnt a show around you i'd probably buy it off of a website instead of buying them from a petstore. But i got mine from a petstore because i know the guy who runs it and he knows a lot about geckos and reptiles. The 2 geckos i got from him are very health and well taken care of. He used to be an old science teacher but now he just runs a pet store. But it is in your opinion where you want to get them. If they look healthy, have a fat tail, and appear to not have any parasites then you can get them from the petstore.

WOW I don't know where you guys live but some of these petsmarts must have really screwed up. My local store is awesome...their "pet care" manager is a licensed vet tech, almost all of the people in that area spend tons of time researching the pets that they sell (mainly herps, especially if it's a specie that none of them own) and ALL of their pets are very well taken care of. Maybe this store just got really lucky when they hired their staff, but I know that the company has the resources to train the people they hire...I've seen the training books that friends have had when they worked there.

be very happy to have a store like that close to you. It is indeed a rarity

Aw sorry to hear about your gecko. was he sick? if he was make sure you clean the case with bleach (first cleaning) and then ammonia (2nd cleaning) then soap and hot water (3rd cleaning. ) Boil any wood toys and do the same cleaning with any plastic toys/food dishes, ect

Have a friend sit in the car when you go buy your leo, orrrr, go to CVS or lowes (maybe call the 2 stores) maybe even walmart and ask them if they sell heat packs. You break them open and they heat up very nice. Bring a towel and put the heatpack on the bottom of the box they give you then put the towel over it. Should keep hi/her nice and warm for the ride home.

I'd buy more than one heatpack if I were you. If your power goes out they should be handy for keeping the geckos warm.

Also those hotwater bottle things are nice, they sell re-usable heat packs on amazon
