Leon needs help!

leoman89 Nov 13, 2004 03:39 PM

My male rainwater Leon has a problem with his nose. It looks like he has lost some scales a has cuts on it.Like when water dragons rub there noses on the glass, but my Leons nose only getts worse when he sheds I have a humid hide and everything, but it still gets worse. I think its when hes rubbing against something to get the skin off but i don't known. He is problably going to the vet sometime. Sorry for the long post.

try some Polysporen (sp?) untill you see the vet to help it heal and keep it from being infected.

SP is the abbreviation for Spelling. Neosporen should work as well as polysporen (maybe polysporen is just a different name for neosporen).

Everytime I see Kalypso rub up against a hard surface to get her shed off, I worry that she'll get hurt also. Luckily though she hasn't. I think it is probably the result of shedding.

I hope your leo gets better!

Well I just put some neosporen on his nose because I figured if people use it on there tails than it should work with there noses but I'm still goin to take him to the vet. This is the first time this has ever happened my other leos don't hurt themselves when they shed only him thats why im a little worried. I'll keep you guys updated on his condition.

put a background around three sides of the cage because he is obveously intrested in getting out! if he cant see out of the cage he will not know what goes on outside of his cage so therefore will not be as interested.
hope that helps...

I just noticed that his one eye is watery too. He opens it still but its always the frist one to close. Any advice will be great.

may have a respiratory infection. re-examine your husbandry (keeping pratices) he may also have mouth rot (which I personally have no experience with) but he definately needs to be checked. He probably needs antibiotics. Keep doing neosporin until you get him in, and check and recheck your temps and humidity.

I am going to take him to the vet whenever my mom get the money and I dont think he has mouth rot because theres no cheeslike substance around his mouth and he eats fine, theres no swellin but I'll wait to see what the vet says.
