Huh, when I bought my first beardies I payed 80 stinkin' bucks and the guy told me to only feed him lettuce and that was all that he needed! How ridiculous! I just applied for a position as a store manager for Petsmart. Maybe if I get the job I will help change at least what one store tells it's guests. Anyway, young beardies love the heck out of little live crickets. I think it's more of a gradual thing. I would offer him a little fresh salad every other day and slowly cut back on the amount of crickets. Soon he'll be eating the salad more often to where you can feed him live protien every other day and eventually only every few days. The older they get the more they will be apt to eat their veggies, but if you don't offer them now, you'll run into trouble later.

Wait a minute........ Baby beardies need crickets or equal protein untill they are adults. You should offer babies fresh veggies EVERY day even if its small amounts so that it is avaiable to them even if they don't eat any. They will eventually start eating it. As I said before you can get a list of good things for them to eat at www.beautifuldragons.com Stay on the diet of crickets three times a day and dust with calcium powder with d3 once a day. and herptavite once or twice a week. Also make sure that the crickets you feed aren't any bigger than the space between the eyes or it could cause impaction If you can afford them silkworms are good to feed them as they are easier to digest and are nutritionally better as well. Make sure you go to that web site and read all the info on calcium to phospherus ratios and what ffods to feed. You will also find a table that will tell you at what ages your supposed to start changing over to a higher salad ratio as well as a table so you'll know how to suppliment for certain ages as well.

If I were you I would treat that beardie like a four week old untill it doesn't look like one......
