My snake has been scratched by a mouse!

JohnGotGhosts Nov 13, 2004 07:58 PM

It's only a small scratch. I can see a slight dip in the skin. I was wondering how I should treat this? Should I just leave it alone and let it heal by itself? Is there anything I can put on it?

put some neosporin on it. dont glop it on, just enough to fill in the cut. and i wouldnt feed any more live mice, because this is a minor warning as to what could possibly happen.

Chris is right...you shouldn't feed it live.
Your snake is lucky there isn't more damage done.
It could have just as easily bitten through an eye, or the skull or even through the spine or vital organs.
Next time either feed frozen/thawed or give the mouse a quick whack on the edge of a table to incapacitate it before putting it in with the snake.
