i was under the impression that they were still being classified as a sub species of bci that is where ssp. comes in can some one shed more light on this? because i may be mistaken but i believe that you are incorect in that they have been classified as a separate species i believe they are still considered a sub species of bci but i may be wrong

Tres Marias Islands are off the Western coast of mexico, not Honduras, where the Cayo de los cochinos is found.

Everything I have read states that Hog Islands are boa constrictor imperator. If you are reading something that says they are a boa constrictor ssp, that is simply saying that the are a subspecies of boa constrictor, which imperator is.
I think the sources are making the same statements, only one is taking a more definate stand into which subspecies they are, and one is giving a generalization.
They are definately not a "subspecies of boa constrictor imperator" as imperator itself IS the subspecific name.
Hope this helps.
I am sure you will get better answers, but it might be a while, as it doesn't seem that many people are browsing tonight.

First off "Thank You" for spelling it "correctly"
"Hog Island"
I believe the current taxom of BCI in general is severally outdated and in need of an update to allow for the "ssp" subspecies per locale/regions/elevations etc. Some species have naturally morphed(evolved)to suit their current locations since they were classed some 50 years ago.The current pure Hog Island as many know it now looks different then what is on the Cochino Island today.
This will clear up alot of peoples misconceptions on the Hog Island BCI
