REALLY NEED SOME HELP!!

DanielP Nov 13, 2004 09:50 PM

Hey all, today I was handling my igs and I noticed that some of Tania`s organs arent normal. I mean, they are hard, as if they were filled with something. I dont know what organs they are, but they are just before her rear limbs. Damn! I told you guys that my english is messed up!! I dont know if you will be able to understand this. I think that she could be impacted, but at the same time I think its impossible. I dont use any type of substrate, there is nothing she could`ve eaten to get impacted in her cage.
I noticed that right after she ate, so it could be just food in her stomatch, but I dont know if its normal. I`ve never noticed that before.. Have you ever experienced something like that before??? I am really worried, cuz as I told you before, where a live is really hard to find a good vet that could take care of her. I am looking for one though, but I think I`ll have to take care of it on my own till I find one.
I think that 2 of her organs are like that. One on each side. Could it be just food in it?? Please, if anybody could help me.. Im really desperated!!
Thanks guys,
Later,
Dan

It could be that she has developed eggs. I dont know much about that subject, im sorry, but i do know that its quite common. My friends female ig lost her appetite and felt hard in those areas and the vet took a radiograph and she had eggs. everything was allright in the end, she re-absorbed them. Someone else should be able to give you more acurate information about this.

If she is old enough it could be eggs but it could also be food. Our ig gets kind of hard in those areas after he has eaten his food and there were some stem part in it. It goes away after he digest his food. I would try to find a vet very fast just in case it is something worse. Good luck.

She is about 14 months old, so I don't think it could be eggs... What if she's impacted?? What do I have to do?? How do I take care of it?? I've once had this kind of prloblem with my beardie, but it was a long time ago and I really don't remember what to do.
Please, if anybody here have ever had this kind of problem before, please help me!!
Thank you very much

Could your Ig really be a male instead and his sexual organs are outside of his body?
You need to see a vet if that's that case, so he can put it back in.

If you think its impactation, then soak her in a tub of warm warter and rub her belly.
I still think a picture would be better so we kow what you're talking about.
Taking her to the VET is the best thing though....

Good luck, Dove

I know you say that you cannot find a Herp vet but you really need to call every vet in the phone book just in case they may know SOMETHING about reps...

ig_daddy Nov 14, 2004 11:17 AM

It sounds like she's gravid. She might be older than you think. In my opinion, you should take her to a herp vet as soon as possible, regardless whether it's food impaction or being gravid. An X ray will tell the story. Impaction might require surgery. If she is gravid, suppliment her food with calcium powder, and keep her well hydrated. Keep us posted.

yeah, give her some warm b aths to try and help hre poop while you try and find a herp vet. If there isnt a vet in your area that usually treats herps, find a vet that works in association with a large lab. These labs can help the vet walk through reptile procedures, the vet can take x-rays and the lab can analize them for you. Just talk to the vets in your area, explain the sittuation and find one that is willing to work with you.

Keep us posted!

If she's eating and pooping okay, she's probably just fine. The first time Xander got really full, I noticed hard little lumps in his belly and freaked out, too. I thought for sure he had a tumor or something. It turns out it was just food sitting in his various digestive organs.

If it goes away after she poops, and appears after she eats that's all it is.

On the other hand, if her behavior has changed, or she's not eating and/or pooping, you should at least call the vet.

If she was impacted, she wouldn't be able to poop. And if she couldn't poop, she couldn't eat. More than likely, you would know it if it was something serious.

okay, i know youre worried. But if i was in your situation i would be giving her baths (as already reccomended) and making sure she is eating and pooping fine. Even if she is gravid there is plenty of literature on line about nest boxes and other things to help her out along the way. Also keep in mind that if she is gravid its you have a little while to find a vet before she is ready to lay. And finally remember CALCIUM RICH GREENS and SUPPLEMENTS (dont over-do it tho) and lots of natural sunlight or UVB tubes. Good luck with her and keep us posted!!!!

Yes, when you feel for it.

hey guys, thanks for all the advises and tips. I knew she couldn't be pregnant, she is too young for that. It was just food. It's funny though, cuz I soaked her and she wouldn't poop. So I started to think it could be impactation. But everything is ok now, it was just food. She pooped today and she's doing fine. Her behavior is still the same, she eats and poops like always, and I'm glad it wasn't anything bad. Thanks again for all the messages.
Take care,
Dan
ps: Oh, and I found a really good vet that can take care of my reptiles! Finally!

Translation into English: Perhaps what you felt were only the intestines full of digested food.
